A note to readers
Changes to EduThirdSpace in 2026
Dear readers,
As I have alluded to in past posts, change is on the horizon for EduThirdSpace. I am not taking anything away, just adding to what this platform already offers.
Here’s what to expect in 2026:
There will be two new sections added. Up to this point, I’ve published everything under three sections:
EduThirdSpace, which is the umbrella and includes all general commentary about education, mostly focused on modern approaches to education and current events.
Education, Serialized, which includes republications of how great thinkers of the past have conceptualized education, along with policy documents that have shaped education in the U.S.
The Greats on Education, which includes summaries of how great thinkers of the past have conceptualized education.
The two new sections are:
Philosophy of Education, which will delve into my philosophy of education, often drawing from others who have informed how I think about education.
In this section, you can expect to read posts like this.
Home Education (formally titled Education in the Mommiverse), which will include resources, tips, and advice for parents (and educators) on how to structure education for their child in accordance with my philosophy of education. The writing published in this section is not just for homeschooling parents. Parents who want to supplement their child’s school education will also benefit from the content published under this banner, as will educators.
In this section, you can expect to read posts like this.
How to manage section alerts
If you are only interested in how the greats of the past have viewed education or the resources I produce or the works of the past that I republish, and so forth, there is a way for you to manage what posts from which sections get sent to your inbox or the Substack app. Simply follow these steps:
Go to the EduThirdSpace website.
In the upper right corner of the website you will see your picture or the default image that Substack assigns you. On that image, you will see a dropdown arrow. Click on the arrow.
Click “manage subscription”.
Scroll down to notifications.
Move the slider to the right (i.e., turn on) for sections that you want to receive notifications about (i.e., Philosophy of Education, Home Education, The Greats on Education, Education, Serialized).
By default, all subscribers receive any post that I publish under the larger EduThirdSpace banner, which is typically my commentary on modern education developments or my thoughts on education writ-large.
Chats and live events
I will begin posting prompts using the chat feature to encourage discussion among paying subscribers, and I will encourage paying subscribers to start their own discussions about education.
In the future, I also plan to schedule live events open to paying subscribers where I discuss something I’ve written about, like a resource I created or an element of my philosophy of education, or answer questions posed by paying subscribers.
I want EduThirdSpace to have more of a community feel, and the chats and live events will help to facilitate this goal.
A new logo
Each post will start with our newly designed (by me :) EduThirdSpace banner (see above). The banner lets you know, as soon as you open one of our emails or one of our posts on the Substack app, that you are reading something published by EduThirdSpace. In addition, soon, I will be updating our icon (currently three huts).
New pricing structure
The cost to become a paid subscriber of EduThirdSpace has remained low, lower than Substack currently allows new publications. Because I will be producing more content for the new sections, I am increasing the price to $7/month or $50/year. The price increase will take effect on January 1st. If you are not a paying subscriber and want to lock in a lower rate, upgrade to paid NOW:
Paying subscribers receive access to the comments, access to the chat, including the ability to start a chat, and access to live events. Plus, most of the content I will publish in the “Home Education” section will be behind a paywall, as well as much of what I publish in the “Philosophy of Education” section.
Keep in mind, come February or March, if you don’t think the content is worth the money, you can always cancel. But, I suspect, you’ll want to stick around ;)
That’s all for now! If you have questions, drop them in the comments section. I am leaving it open for all subscribers (free and paid).
Thanks for being here,
Samantha
