Dear readers,
Back in the fall, I announced the launch of a classic literature reading program, called Young Wanderers. Enrollment has been closed since that initial launch, but next month, in January, I will reopen enrollment for a limited number of participants. Visit my website to learn more about the program and to sign up for my newsletter, which is how you will be notified when enrollment opens and receive information about subscription box discounts, among other things.
Leading up to open enrollment, I am sharing via Instagram the making of the Young Wanderers program. But I also want to share a bit of the story here because the concept very much blossomed from the ideas I have written about for this platform. Here's a little tidbit...
The Young Wanderers program stems from three concepts, which are represented via illustrations throughout the program:
Children are curious.
They love to go on adventures.
And they grow as a result of those adventures.
A Young Wanderer—what the children who participate in the program are called—ignites their curiosity by seeking adventure through works of classic literature. In other words, they read good books written by authors who know how to tell a story well, a story that invites readers to traverse a new reality as if they were living it themselves.
Young Wanderers follow Mortimer Adler's tips for reading imaginative literature, but ultimately the purpose of reading classic imaginative literature is to enjoy the experience provided by the author.
Stay tuned for more tidbits about the making of Young Wanderers.
